I should probably also mention the fact that my daughter was first chair
clarinet at this years All Eastern that was held at the Eastman school of
music. Now whether or not his sisters great achievement with the clarinet
has perhaps influenced his attraction to the saxophone I cannot tell. He is
as I stated, one of the best junior high clarinets in New york State.
Whether or not he will attain the heights that his sister has with the
clarinet remains to be seen. I have noticed that at virtually every
competition and concert the ratio is at LEAST 6 female clarinets to every
male. Perhaps as he gets a bit older and begins to appreciate the opposite
sex he may look at this in a different light :)
