An interesting question! In my personal experience, if I know
a passage,section,entire piece, or whatever so thoroughly that
I can sing every note of it, then it IS memorized and I can
play it on the clarinet(aside from any too-technically-difficult bits).

Maybe, when you are singing the piece, you might try fingering the notes,
without the clarinet, simultaneously. I suggest you not
try this while driving (although I can sort of do this with both
hands on the steering wheel).

Also, are you "singing" the piece in your mind while you are
playing it? Many a fine music director/teacher has told me
that all instrumentalists should be doing just that.
