This is a really fertile area and one that has not been really tapped
by us "cousins".

I believe that Dr. Jim Gillespie of North Texas State University
did his doctoral dissertation on the subject.

As you may know, there was a Musical renaissance in Britain in the
late 19th Century. It was spurred primarily by two prominent composers
and teachers, Hubert Parry (1848-1918) and Charles Villiers Stanford
(1852-1924)

Stanford wrote a Sonata for clarinet that is very Brahmsian and a
pretty good concerto too.

With the influence of these two. a whole new school of composition
arose and for some reason, the clarinet became an important instrument
of this compositional renaissance.
