Andrea's comments caused me to realize that this entire discussion of
old and new model 33s is now almost out of control.

Andrea describes the old model 33 as requiring the thumb and the right
pinky to produce a low E-flat. I have a 33 that was made in 1963. It was
a sufficiently new model at that time that Selmer only made them to order.
I believe it is correct for me to call the old model 33 and Andrea's
description of how to play low E-flat is not applicable to my instrument.
It is played with only the right hand pinky.

One other point Andrea. I think that a low C Selmer of very good
vintage and intonation (which is clearly what you want) is going to be
somewhat more than the $2,000-$2,500 your suggested. If and when I ever
get around to selling my instrument, the price is going to be closer to
$3,500-$4,000. This is consistent with others I have seen of the
most superior quality instruments. Clearly you are not going to want
anything less than that.
