Jim, I do not agree that the responses you received about the $1,000
Kohlert b.c. allow you to come to the conclusion that you should be
able to buy a used professional model at the price you stipulate.

If you want to get a used Selmer, Le Blanc, or Buffet, it is my
opinion that you will pay much more, considerably more, than the cost
of the Kohlert. And if the used professional model descends to low
C (which is almost obligatory today), then you are talking anywhere
between $2,500 and $5,000 depending on the quality of the instrument.

A used b.c. can even be more expensive than a new one. It depends on
many factors. While I am unable to comment on the Kohlert price you
quoted as offered to you, I only suggest that I did not get the same
conclusion you got based on the responses sent to you.
