I have a plastic Kohlert Bass Clarinet one piece. I was told that it was
made by a now defunct East German company that was mainly a manufacturer
of bassoons. Tony Bingham's in London has published a book of manufacturers,
past and present. This book also listed a Kohlert in France but I don't
believe it is the same. I have also run across some Kohlert bass clarinets
in the catalogue from Lark in the Morning who sells new and used unique
instruments. I would sell my Kohlert SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than the one
you are looking at and am also considering selling my wooden LeBlanc also
cheaper than $1000. Perceived Internet protocol prevents me from going
into more detail but you can email me direct.
