Here's a puzzler for you.
I play in a community pick-up band for holidays like the 4th of
July and Memorial Day. A group of us within the larger ensemble have
decided that it might actually be useful/pleasant to take some time to
practice on a regular basis and work up some more challenging literature
and a slightly better realization in performance. The five-some consists
of
1 Clarinet
2 Trumpets
1 French Horn
1 Tuba

The ensemble is a bit unusual but as you see we have the capacity
to cover the full range of voices. The question is, what literature is out
there that might be usable or adaptable to such an ensemble?
Theoretically, one could take string-based quintets and such and transpose
and arrange, but is there any literature out there that would come closer
to meeting our needs? By the way, our level of musical accomplishment is
quite varied so even something out of the high school band literature (if
that's the word I want) would be a useful hint for starting out.
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
