Having had some problems with tinnitus as a result of 25 years of teaching
instrumental music, I am "too" familiar with the need to protect one's
delicate hearing mechanism.

The best plugs for musicians are the ER-15 or ER-20 hearing protectors from
Westone. These are custom molded earplugs which are designed to attenuate
evenly across the spectrum. They will reduce sound levels by eith 15 or 20
db. respectively, and will not dramatically alter the timbre of sound
reaching your eardrums. They are available from your audiologist, on special
order, and cost about $100. I have used them for several years and found them
to be comfortable and effective.

Good luck,
Ken Maltz
