In a recent discussion on articulated G# keys, someone mentioned that it
might not be possible to purchase a clarinet with the artic. G# anymore. I
purchased a new full Boehm Buffet = 10 years ago, and I believe they are
still producing it. I never had any trouble with the artic. G# at all. In
fact I liked it so much that I had it "added" to my A clarinet. Once you
are used to using it on one horn, it is difficult to go back and forth from
a non-artic. G#. When I say added to my A, I did not have a tone hole
drilled through the tenon (as is done at the factory), rather the original
G# key was altered and another mechanism added to it to make it
articulated. This work was done by Dominic Puccio in Rochester NY. IMO he
is one of the best craftsmen around. Though we live in Columbus OH now, on
occassion, we still ship our instruments off to Dom for repairs.
