My faith is restored temporarily. I wanted to comment a week or so back (but I'm
not sure now that the message got through) on the fact that I hade tried out an
alto clarinet at a klezmer gig, and found the it very comfortable to play and
at least my trumpet player colleague was commenting on the tone, the blend of
the two intsruments etc. The accordian player didn't really notice, but that's
accordian players I suppose. In the upper register The horn is a Vito No 1883
A, made in the USA I assume.
I'd like to hear if other klezmer players have ever tried the alto. Is it used
much in other non classical areas? It seems so comfortable and far less
cumbersome (IMHO) than the bass.
