An easy way to imagine the articulated G# key is to look at the G# mechanism
on the sax or oboe. On a clarinet it means that the G# tone hole is moved so
that it goes through the center tenon. As far as I know, new instruments are
not available with this feature. There are a few old Selmer Centertones
around with it that are very nice horns.
The only time I ever saw one used was playing Daphne & Cloe with Charlie
Russo - just for some of the tremelo's.
One downside is the problem with keeping the mechanism in good adjustment.
