Graham,
Welcome. If your daughter is oled enogh in your estimation, let
her get online as well. I promise you there is no profanity or nastiness
on this list. To answer our question, there is precious little original
repertoire for Bass clarinet and the little there is is very advanced.
However, there are lots and lots of arrangements. I recommend that you
try to get hold of the list of your province's "Solo and Ensemble Festival"
(or whatever it is called in down under). Many states here in the US
have this kind of deal where the students prepare solo and chamber music
and are judged and critiqued. I'll bet Australia has it too. Ask her
school band director. The more difficult thing will be finding a good
instrument, as the plastic Bundy or Vito will not really get her very
far. Then you are into the realm of wooden instruments which often cost
twice as much. Good luck to you both.
