Roger,

The Profile 88 has a more acute angle to the beak. Thus, while taking the
same amount of mouthpiece into the mouth, the mouth is less open. My
teacher and I don't care for it so much because having the mouth more closed
causes it to be less effective as a resonating chamber. One possible
advantage I could envision is that the sharper profile allows one to take in
more of the mouthpiece into the mouth without opening the mouth any wider,
if one needs to take a larger bite in the first place. Since the B45 has a
fairly long facing, this could be worth considering.

The best advice I can offer is to try them both and see which sounds and
feels the best to you. I decided to go with a 5RV Lyre, standard profile.

Good luck!
