Hello -

I just had to chime in here, briefly. Here's the operative quote:

"Taking private lessons right away (depending on the
teacher) can put to much pressure on a kid and stress them out or prevent
music from being fun."

I feel strongly that private lessons "right away" are crucial - and, of
course, the right teacher makes all the difference. In many instances,
participating in organizations without lessons to supplement the
experience can produce a number of bad habits from which young players
may never recover.

I would encourage all young players to seek private instruction
immediately, and not to settle for uncomfortable experiences. There are
lots of fine teachers available for students of any age and ability. It
will pay to seek them out.
