One more point and then I will shut up. I find that fingerings on different
instruments don't give me anywhere near the problems that embouchure, air
support and intonation give. Techinique is a never-ending quest, and has
to be constantly practiced, but it is also the easiest part of playing
to put on a regimen. I know all of my scales, arpeggios, etc., in many
different patterns on all of my instruments. I can practise these things
without thinking and concentrate on the other stuff while I am doing it.
Only rarely do I get confused as to which instrument I am on and try
to finger the wrong note, and when I do, it is usually when I am transposing
or reading bass clef.
