Been following the string on clarinet vs. saxophone. What I've read is
pretty much what a friend of mine told me. He's a sax player who doubles
on clarinet. He insists that it is best to start on the clarinet, because
the switch to sax is easier than the switch to clarinet from sax.

The clarinet is demanding enough for me, so I have no intention of
attempting a saxophone. I want to stay focused. But, I am curious about
the oboe and bassoon. Are the double-reed woodwinds more difficult to
play than the clarinet? If so, in what way? Just curious. Neither of
these instruments--or the sax, for that matter--produce a sound that can
compare to a clarinet's IMHO.
