Arlene,

Telling us that your daughter has agreed to abide by the majority of
those who respond makes it very tempting to send multiple notes under
various accounts and pseudonoms!

I think the issue is more complicated than it might at first seem. There
is much at issue other than whether daily practice will make her a better
musician. There's also the issue of whether she will still be practicing,
playing and enjoying the instrument or some other instrument 10, 20 or 50
years from now.

Might she be more likely to enjoy the instrument and persist if her practice
is NOT so regular? I don't know. There are many (I suspect a majority) of
young people who give up playing once they get to high school, or college or
graduate, or leave home, or whatever.

I vote for whatever is most likely to result in pleasure for Meghan
and continued enjoyment throughout her life.
