I received a call today from a repair technician who is writing an
article for the WQ on pad worms.
Between our respective experience, we could not determine the geography
of the problem. Helives in Georgia, U.S.A.

Has any one experienced pad worm problems? Apparently the bug is
approximately 3 mm long and normally is a problem only when the
instrument is stored. More common with clarinet and flute where they
attack bladder pads. Has anyone had a problem with this on other
woodwinds?

It is not clear if pad-felt is the attraction or the bladder-skin, or
both. I would like to send the author any comments with permission to
use them as he wants.
