I once had a friend who loaned me about five or six boxes of his old Oliveri
reeds to try out. He told me he wanted them back. When he retired and was
about to move out of the area, I returned his reeds, but in the form of a
lamp shade that topped a clarinet lamp. I'm not sure he apprecieated it, but
when I went to visit him some time later, I didn't see the lamp anywhere, and
he had given up playing the clarinet all together.

There is a lesson in there somewhere.
