If you are using an open mouthpiece you may have to adapt quite a
bit to use a Pyne. I have 2 Pynes that are about 3 years old and
they are more resistant than most and require softer reeds than
a Van Doren 5rv or M13 for example. I like the sound but I don't
like using the softer reeds. I now play on a Clark Fobes. I like
the sound as well as the Pyne but it is more open and the
altissimo speaks easier. It is much more tolerant to different
types of reeds. I don't have the mouthpiece with me but I can
give you the number when I return on Monday. I have also tried the
new Chedeville mouthpiece available from some of the mail order
stores and would consider it similar to a Pyne in sound but a
little less resistant.
