Chad,

I recently bought a Pyne mouthpiece, and am quite happy with it. There
are different types (I have an M~). Pyne also makes a less expensive
student mouthpiece called Sinfonia I think. They are about half the price
of his other mouthpieces, so they are worth trying out. The best thing to
do is to try a bunch of mouthpieces and pick one you like best; there is
quite a bit of variation (Like any brand of MP). I think the facing is
not too closed, as I had no trouble switching from a Kasper to the Pyne.
I use very light reeds, so that means a more open facing, doesn't it?
Well, good luck!
