We are all better off when a sound technician has a music degree in addition
to study of electronics. I am fortunate to have such a sound man with a
masters in trombone. They are few and far between.

Many young techs have also grown up primarily with rock and really do not
understand acoustic sound.

The musical qualifications of a sound tech are a good thing to ask before
hiring him/her.
