Well, you certainly brought the dutch out of hiding. (well, at least
Judith and me). The statement 'Dutch is a dialect of German' is so
utterly ridiculous it really made my day :)
I wonder who describes English as a 'simplified' version of German?
Being fluent in Dutch, English and German this rather puzzles me...
(But then again, after spending the past two months in California, the
idea of 'simplified English' suddenly makes sense..)

Anyway, now that I'm 'out of hiding'...
When in the states, I noticed the prices of French clarinets where
actually lower than in Holland. Of course, this is mostly due to the
low value of the dollar. But I noticed that some prices are even lower
than the french ones...

Do people on this list know how prices of woodwind instruments vary with
countries? What is the cheapest way to obtain a good clarinet (considering that
if you buy one abroad there's customs to be paid when exporting the instrument
legally).
I know of several Dutch who got their instruments in France and smuggled
them into the Netherlands, which really saves you a lot of money.
