when i tongue, i touch the reed with the tip of my tongue. double
tongueing, as i understand it, involves using the BACK of your tongue
alternately with the front (t-k-t-k-t-k). you can't touch the reed with
the back of your tongue: therefore, you must get quite a different quality
on "even numbered" note initiations.

for this reason, i've always thought that double tongueing was a non-
starter for clarinettists. (different from brass players, who don't
touch anything except their own palates when they tongue).

can i be instructed in this, please?
