We seem to be on a string of extended techniques for the clarinet and
as yet I have not seen anything regarding double tonguinG techniques.

I have beeen working on my double tongue on and off for about a year
and have had limited success. I can approach a fairly rapid pace on one
note, but I have trouble coordinating with the fingers and particularly
crossing the break.

ANY AND ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME AT THIS POINT!!!

I studied with Ralph Gari one of the premier double tonguing experts of the
20th century. What he always said to me was to move the fingers ahead (faster
than) of the tongue. The tongue has much less far to move and wants to get
ahead of the fingers.

My personal experience is that the mouthpiece is extreemly important
especially in the 3rd ocatve. It seems to require a medium resistance
mouthpiece that is not too open. I think it also requires a very agressive
attitute.
