Noting your inquiry about Jean Francaix and Fred Jacobowitz's
reply, may I suggest another point of contact in addition to Charles
Neidich -- in this case, a subscriber to Klarinet, as it turns out. He is
Jonathan Cohler, who has made a remarkable CD, which contains Francaix's
"Theme and Variations". I know that Jonathan has exchanged letters with
Francaix and may even have met the composer.
While I offer no guarantees as to whether he has the biographical
information you seek, because he is on Internet, Jonathan may be a good
initial contact.
