All this talk about reeds feeling harder or softer really should be
tempered with the fact that reeds respond differently on different
mouthpieces. That's true isn't it?

I'm just a beginner but, a 3 1/2 rico royal on my Eddie Daniels #2
feels rather stiff but on my Woodwind K10m it plays easily. I think
the ED #2 is more open than the K10m. A #2 reed sounds pretty good on
my ED #2 m.p.

I just pulled out my int. musical suppliers catalog, an add for
Gigliotti mouthpieces says this about the different facings:
* P-close tip-long curve, use #4 1/2 or heavy reeds.
* P34-close tip-shorter curve, use #4 or #4 1/2 reeds
* #2-medium close, use #4 or 3 1/2 reeds
* #3-medium, use #3 1/2 or #3 reeds
* #4-open, for jazz player or doubler

On the m.p. chart it looks like the woodwind K10 facing is about the
same as #3 Gigliotti facing. (there isn't a listing for the ED #2)
