Throughout my experiences working in various music stores over the
years and managing a Friends of Music for Youth Used Instrument Sale
every year for the past 15 years, I have always felt that Vito plastic
clarinets were no worse soundwise than Bundys, Conns, or any of the other
various student clarinets which I have tried, and that the keywork on a
Vito is much more rugged than some of the other brands, particularly Bundys
and Yamahas - an important consideration for a parent who is worried
about their 9 year old assembling their new clarinet using death grip
technology! I own a sky blue Vito plastic Dazzler, and use it all the
time when I am playing outside in strange weather, which is par for the
course here in Burlington, VT. It doesn't have the sound quality of a
well set-up wooden clarinet, but it certainly sounds and plays much
better than your average garden hose (and is Much prettier....)!
