Same thing in my school. In the beginning band we were encouraged to buy a Vito
clarinet mainly because it was El Cheapo. I was fourtunate that I didn't have
to because I used my sisters which is a LeBlance (I think, I don't use it
anymore). At graduation time over half the section was still
using their Vitos. The band director always wondered why our section
sounded so bad. I suspect it was because of the Vitos. The only reason why
I would buy one is for marching season. Because no one in the stands can here
the clarinets anyway.
