I have had a copy of Rascher's book for a number of years. It is published
by Carl Fischer, and I would guess that it is still in print. I didn't think
he was still alive, and I'm glad to know he is. I also was suprised that he
resides in the States.
His approach to the altissimo on the sax is different from most others, in
that he spends most of his Method in developing the embouchure to play all
the notes in a given harmonic series from the fundamental note, using only
the fundamental fingering and making subtle changes to air and embouchure to
get the harmonics. Only after the student can do this does he introduce high
note fingerings, which facilitate those notes. By the time you can play all
those harmonics the altissimo should be a piece of cake.
Regards, Lee
