Oh really? Try using that explanation/excuse when a conductor wonders out
loud why you have just changed several notes during a rehearsal -- notes
that he/she expects to be hearing as it is notated in the score! Obviously,
we can do whatever we want in a "solo" setting (non-ensemble), with only our
musical conscience as a guide...and, of course, some composers give us an
option -- but most do not.

My humble suggestion is that if you don't like the way it sounds now, better
to practice it until it *does* sound that way...or else have a very friendly
and private meeting with the conductor first!
