Edwin Lacy says that professional musicians should be able to
perform with facility in every key.

I totally agree. However, not all of us are professional musicians.
To us mortals, a weird key is one that has more sharps or flats
than naturals. We are used to having limitations on what we are
able to play. This is what keeps us practicing harder to overcome
these obstacles, and I hope that one day I will be able to play in
C# as easily as C. Until that time comes, it is frustrating for a
'developing' musician to not be able to play a particular piece, not
because it is too technically difficult, but simply because it is
written in a weird key.
