As regarding Giora Feidman's antecedants, to slight Dave Tarras for "just
doing what he was born and trained to do" (Fred Jacobowitz) is akin to
denegrating Mozart for "doing what HE was born and trained to do."

Dave and others like himxNaftule Brandwine, Shloimke Beckerman, Max Epstein,
to name a fewxenriched the art of klezmer music and successfully transported
it to these shores. Dave alone is responsible for several hundred
compositions and has been an influence upon practically every clarinetist who
studies the genre seriously. Perhaps one ought to keep in mind that one of
the first things that Feidman did upon arriving in America for the first time
was to seek Tarras out and bring him a gift of flowers.

One must give Giora credit for many things, but let's not do it at the
expense of others.
