Thanks Dan for the enlightenment, but I am not as ignorant as you might
think. Graduate school and medical emergencies have left me in a
position where I simply do not have too many funds. I AM completely
AWARE af all those things which you mentioned. Some of us, however,
simply are strapped. I guess that I should have been more SPECIFIC, and
said that I would like a bass clarinet NOW simply because I need to
prepare for my FIRST big outing into the professional world. And of
course, I should have stated that once I marry a rich man, or get a hold
of my financial situation, I might have the intelligence and capability
with which to purchase a better one.

Sorry if I found your reply offensive. I do know, oh, at least one or two
professional clarinet players who hold symphony jobs playing bass and they
did advise me in this direction, because they understand my situation.
