I don't know if these would be appropriate for a young band, but somebody
else might be interested.

Last year, the Eastman Wind Ensemble went on tour to Japan and the featured
soloist for the trip was Kenneth Grant (my teacher, BTW). He did two
concertos that were really cool. The first was a transcription of the
Mozart Concerto, but the group to accompany him was a traditional 18th-
century wind band (ie. no saxes or other winds that are too modern). It
was quite well done. The arranger was a doctoral student that is graduating
in a couple of days by the name of Robert Rumbelow (sp?).

The other thing that was performed was the Calandrelli Jazz concerto (from
the Eddie Daniels "Breakthrough" album.
