Subject: Frances Robinson and the MYSTERY CLARINET-the final installment

I am sorry I ended so abruptly yesterday. My dad came in and told me to
disconnect the modem because I had been mailing for about an hour.
Anyway, here is the end of the story.....
So, we knew it was a c clarinet. The next half an hour I spent working
out how to play it, when I realised that the book my mum learnt from,
'Otto Langey's practical tutor for the clarinet and corno di basetto' was
also a hundred years old or so. I had been trying to work out what system
it was for months now, reading all the clarinet books that the library
could offer. I opened the books and it fell open at 'scale of the
clarinet in the simple system'-two keys, two rings, twisty speaker key-
IT WAS IDENTICAL!!! As I practiced the scale in both registers,I realised
what it was!!!
However, this is by no means the end of the story. I am just about to
ring Tim Bayley, and it will be restored. Anyone who knows anything about
C clarinets, or the makers 'Savana, Paris' should help me........

Frances 'key of C' Robinson
