Thanks to Clark Fobes, whom I remember as an outstanding clarinetist
from the early 70's Fresno State days, for informing us of the passing
of Russell Howland. My wife Ellen (Morgan) and I were both students of
Mr. Howland and remember him fondly both for his superior musicianship
and teaching abilities, and for his kind and patient nature. He will
never be forgotten by those of us who have considered him as "our"
teacher.
