From: Thomas Labadorf <Labadorf@-----.COM> Subj: 5 min. orchestra solo decision Date: Fri, 19 May 1995 06:38:41 -0400
Thanks to all those who offered suggestions for my 5 min. solo opportunity.
Michiya Nishino's Percy Grainger idea interested me greatly, but I wasn't
able to find an orchestra accompaniment. Sal Lozano's Benny Goodman idea
intreaged me, but Benny is a tough act to follow even now, and improvising is
a problem at the moment. Jay Eric Niepoetter wins the prize with his idea
to play Jeanjean Carnival of Venice leaving out the slow variation. It's a
piece I alredy have worked up, and it's sure to suit the "pops" audience.
Thanks again. Next time (?) when/if I get more time, I'll do something more
serious.
