I don't really have any special insights on this, but your msg reminded me
of a guy I knew in the early '70s who was deaf. I remember how much he
loved to go to the discos to dance.

Of course, each of these bars had its own 4 billion watts of amplified bass
power. He went there to FEEL the music. (Hey, I KNEW the Bee Gees were
good for something!)
