Here's an afterthought to my previous message suggesting the
Rossini "Variations for Clarinet and Small Orchestra." You might
also consider a movement -- say the last one -- from the Berio
orchestration of the Brahms F minor clarinet sonata. While I wouldn't
call the music "flashy," it is lively. And it may stimulate a
classical-music audience, because very few such audiences have heard
this music in an orchestral form.
