If you leave the clarinet out, it is the easiest way to dry out
the wood which results in cracks. Also, I was told at Clarinetfest that
leaving the clarinet together for extended periods of time puts stress
at the joints which can lead to hair line cracks. The repair professionals
speaking encouraged to disassemble the clarinet every time you leave
it for any period of time. I don't remember the entire explination why, but
that i what they said. Either way, someone asked this very same question and
they killed the idea quickly.
