Thank you Clark for your rememberance. I wish that I had been able to
really know Mr. Howland. Unfortunately, I only had the privledge to meet
him once at one of our wind ensemble concerts last year. His passing on
is indeed a loss for us all.
I am curious as to who on the list was able to study with him, and if
anybody studied here at CSUF (or its various incarnations as Fresno State
University, etc).
I feel fortunate to study in a community where is legacy is very strong.
I've had the opportunity to read many of his clarinet choir works, as Dr.
Miles Ishigaki "re-incarnated" Mr. Howland's clarinet choir a few years
ago. We will be performing a concert on May 15th to honor his memory.
