The frequency of standard mains electricity is 50Hz in some parts of
the world and 60Hz in others. I believe it's 60 in North America and
50 in Europe, but I often mix up which is which. 50Hz is a G 35 cents
sharp (at A440) and 60Hz is midway between Bb and B natural.

When the need arises, I must say I prefer to tune to a Korg than to
a Kenmore or a Kirby, but to each his/her own :)
