Andrew, I agree with your comments about making subtle adjustments to the
oboe, particularly in duet type passages between the flute and oboe. I am
surprised, however, about your comments regarding the horn. The hornist in
our quintet seems to have the least problems with intonation. It seems that
a hand in the bell and along with a good ear can make adjustments almost
before pitch problems are noticable.

I'd try the "hand in the bell" trick myself if my arm was longer. Of course
then I'd also need to locate the "good ear".
