I thought the reason the oboe is used as the pitch reference is
because it is not a tunable instrument and needs a relative pitch
reference for ensemble. I hope I'm not jumping into the proverbial
fire. Who had the flame-proof tux? Before I burn, is this true for
bassoon, too?
