I am in a woodwind quintet at Virginia Tech. I too experience far too many
intonation problems in the group. I seems that the oboe, in terms of its
construction and make, that it has the most problems. The one thing that a
quintet enables you to do is LISTEN!!! Pitch variances across the spectrum
are realized and are not easy to solve. Just hang in there, it's
definitely hard work!!!
