Therer are at least two ways to solve the register problem (though, as Benade
points out that doesn't solve all intonation problems). They were invented
(and I think patented) by Stubbins(then @-----.
The Rossi clarinet has one; the Stubbins is available on Leblanc clarinets (or
was at one time). All professional model bass clarinets seem to have one or
the other.
