Fred, as long as we're naming our favorite jazz players, let me throw in
the name of one who influenced me early on... Matty Matlock. I had a
recording of the Paul Weston orchestra playing a suite called Crescent
City (N'awlins, for all you yankees!). Mr. Matlock did the clarinet solos
on it. What a gorgeous warm sound.
