Okay, this is my very last message about Eddie's clarinets.

I very much enjoy and respect Dan leeson's perspectives on
issues in Klarinet, but I think he may have misinterpreted the
meaning of my message about Eddie playing his Buffet when
no one is looking.
I do not think for a minute that Eddie switches brands
because he is afraid people will think he does not play the right
brand. Like everyone else, he seems to have a brand that he
prefers. Maybe he likes the tone, maybe he likes the feel.
Whatever it is, his preference seems to be Buffet as far as I
can tell. I'm sure he would sound excellent on a 30 year old Bundy.
The idea of him playing a Buffet when no one is looking is not due
to insecurity, but due to the fact that he apparently cut a deal
with Leblanc to use their instruments exclusively when appearing
in public.
I think the reason he switched around is because he surely must
be hotly pursued by different clarinet companies to get him to use
their products, just as basketball stars are pursued by shoe
companies. I for one feel Eddie should go out there and get
whatever he can. Yes, fellow clarinettists run out and buy all his
CDs because we can appreciate the tremendous amount of talent
he has. But the general public is not as sophisticated nor as
interested in the clarinet so many 'artists' with minimal musical
talent sell ten times the CDs that Eddie does. So whatever he
can get out of Leblanc or Yamaha or wherever he goes next, he
has earned it. It would be nice if Buffet would offer him whatever
Leblanc has (I have a feeling it's more than just free clarinets) to
bring him home to the instrument he really prefers.
