I live in Dallas and studied with the former principal clarinetist with the
DSO, Robert Strickler, no one I know here in town remembers a Jimmy Guiffre
ever being associated with the orchestra. Mr. Strickler was the principal
player from apx. 1957 or '58 until the mid-70s, when he became associate
principal to Steve Girko, the current principal player.
I'll keep checking and send more info. if I can find it.
